Although best known locally as a founder of The Colophon Cafe and The
Doggie Diner, Taimi Dunn Gorman has taught numerous marketing and ad design courses for
Whatcom and the
Small Business Development Center. Her classes are popular due both to her
extensive experience as a restaurateur and retail
owner/manager and to her marketing expertise. She is currently owner of Gorman Publicity,
which offers a variety of marketing services to the business community.
Taimi has over 25 years experience in the marketing and management fields.
In addition to having been co-owner of 12 restaurants and one doggie boutique, she has
managed a shopping mall and an art gallery. She holds a degree in Speech Pathology
from WWU and studied marketing at Portland State University in Oregon. Taimi has
written over 100 business columns for such publications as the Bellingham
Herald, Business Pulse and Business Journal and is former chair of the
Governor's Small Business Improvement Council.
Her sense of humor, wide knowledge, and well-organized classes,
complete with extensive handouts, make her courses fun and popular. Taimi
spends her free time with her husband and dogs while working on the "never-ending"
remodel of her 1970's house.
