Teaching is an
important component in Jan Hayes' professional work and personal
passions. Sharing information with others can lead them to well
founded decisions when doing residential design changes.
Likewise, when demonstrating the process of spinning or
knitting, students gain the confidence and pleasure that the
craft offers. Teaching gives back to the teacher as much as the
teacher gives to the students and this has provided a life-long
satisfaction for Jan. Jan's teaching experience includes 25 years as a community education teacher for Whatcom County Parks where she has taught spinning, knitting, basketry and more; 5 years mentoring local high school seniors working on their graduation projects; 5 years teaching the electrical/mechanical course for candidates for Certification with the National Kitchen and Bath Association; and 25 years teaching clients the technical and aesthetic details of good design. Jan attended Washington State University and Western Washington University. She has received certificates as a Certified Kitchen Designer, Certified Bath Designer, and Certified Master Kitchen and Bath Designer from the National Kitchen and Bath Association. |
