Janet began her
career as a registered nurse and later transitioned into
psychotherapy. She kept a private practice for many years, which
later expanded into coaching and consulting. For 12 years she
worked with a major training company, facilitating two, five-day
workshops throughout North America: 'The Pursuit of Excellence' and 'The Wall.'
She found it very rewarding to help thousands
of people clarify and reach their personal and professional
goals. She also held full-time faculty positions for two years at
the University of Washington and Bellevue Community College. Janet also had a rich military career, with three
years active duty in the Army including one year in a Viet Nam field hospital.
This was followed by 17 years in the active reserve,
finally retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1993. In addition
to her coaching and training business, she is also the
facilitator/trainer for Excellence Northwest, a non-profit
professional and personal effectiveness organization. She
currently leads two, four-day programs: 'ReSet for Excellence' and
'BreakThru to Excellence'. Janet holds a BS from Columbia
University in New York City, an MS from the University of Washington,
and numerous certificates in leadership and coaching.
Janet's passions involve anything physically active in the
outdoors (bicycling, hiking, skiing, climbing, kayaking). She
also loves digging in the dirt, felines, reading and film. She
is president of the board of Sustainable Connections and active
in the First Congregational Church of Bellingham, UCC.
