Before working
with computers, Martha Raaka worked for a commercial printing
and publishing company in California. During eight years
there, she witnessed the transition from traditional
typesetting, prepress and printing to the new technologies of
desktop publishing. She quickly became an avid user of Adobe’s
creative software programs such as PageMaker, Illustrator,
Acrobat and Photoshop. After leaving the printing business, she
worked in educational marketing for a popular software company
and continued to use Adobe’s products for both print and web
production. After her company was relocated, she joined the
computer science department of Santa Rosa Community College,
where she enjoyed teaching PageMaker, Font Management,
Illustrator, Acrobat and InDesign. For the past 12 years, she
has been teaching classes (using both Windows and Macs) and
designing curriculum around the ever popular Adobe products. She
is excited to be teaching Community Education's first exploration classes using
Adobe’s Creative Suite 3 for Illustrator, Acrobat and InDesign.
These classes are designed for anyone needing a quick
introduction to Adobe’s powerful desktop publishing tools.
Martha holds a
B.A. from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and is an
Adobe Certified Expert in PageMaker, Illustrator and InDesign.
When not teaching, Martha is busy learning more
Italian, working in her garden and exploring the Pacific
Northwest’s natural beauty.
