Robert Schmidt spent thirty-seven years working as a training manager for Caterpillar Inc. During those years
he honed his teaching ability in many subjects. Robert feels his greatest strength in teaching is the ability to put
students at ease, helping to facilitate the learning process. "I am not
there to impress them with what I know but with what progress they can
make." Robert tries to make learning fun and observes that his
greatest reward is witnessing the "moment of understanding."
Robert earned his Bachelors in Metallurgical Engineering from the
University of Wisconsin and later earned his Masters of
Engineering Administration from Bradley University. He is also a
Certified Quality Engineer and is registered with the American Society for
Quality Control. In his long career with Caterpillar, Robert
developed many quality and leadership programs including team building,
situational leadership, and dozens of programs related to quality and
supplier development.
Robert enjoys his retirement in Birch Bay with his wife,
grandchildren, and family dog. He also enjoys sharing his years of experience through
teaching Community Education workshops and by being available for contract
training opportunities.
