David Simonson
has been teaching vegetable gardening classes at Whatcom Community
College since 1997. As a Whatcom County native, he is very knowledgeable
about vegetable gardening in this area. Upon retirement after 31 years
of teaching at Blaine High School, he enrolled in the
Washington State University Master Gardening Program and has been
coordinator of the demonstration garden at Hovander Homestead Park for
the past 14 years. He was recipient of the "Washington State Master
Garden of the Year" award for 2003. David graduated from Meridian High School and has degrees from Western Washington University and University of Washington. Sometimes known as "Mr. Vegetable," he enjoys maintaining his own
vegetable garden and orchard on his five-acre property. |
