Asian-Style Brush Painting: The Plum Blossom

Brown brush may be easier, but white brush is fine

	1 sumi brush #1—about 1” long (brush sizes can be approximate)
	1 sumi brush #3—about 1 ¼” long
	Ink Stone – the larger the better, at least 2 ½’’ x 4 ½’’
	Black liquid ink
	Black ink stick
	Paper— Student quality Asian paper is fine. I like mulberry and yuan, but any kind of Asian paper has its own interesting qualities.
	I will have newsprint available at no charge for practice: however you will also need to bring some form of Asian or Sumi paper as well.

	16 oz or larger water container
	Small white plate
	Small smooth rag and a few paper towels
	Small spoon
	Paperweights—small rocks work well
	Dark color felt—18”x 20”
