Culinary Road Trip: Seattle's Historic Pike Place Market

| You won't want
to miss this Culinary Road Trip that ventures south to the
historic Pike Place Market--internationally recognized as
America's premiere farmers' market. The day begins with an
intriguing behind-the-scenes look at the century old Market.
This guided "Heritage Tour" is a blend of history and current
information, plus a dash of quirky anecdotes and practical
shopping tips presented by knowledgeable insiders. Our tour
leader, Luanne Williams, has also arranged private visits at
DeLuarenti's--an Italian food lover's dream grocery/deli, and
Beechers Cheese--awarded the Best Mac & Cheese title by Martha
Stewart! You will also receive great tips for your lunch
destination and wine-tasting stops as you spend the afternoon
exploring all that the Market has to offer! Cost of Heritage
Tour is included in course fee; lunch and afternoon exploration
is on your own! Class departs from the WCC campus promptly at
8:00 AM and travels by relaxing coach furnished by our day trip
partners, Bellair Charters. Dress for the weather and wear your

Culinary Road Trip: Vancouver, B.C.'s Chinatown |
| Don't miss this
road trip rich in adventure, culture, and great food! Our
popular and entertaining cooking instructor, Mary Ellen Carter,
will be our expert guide as we walk through the busy market
streets enjoying the sights, tastes, and smells of historical
Chinatown in downtown Vancouver, B.C. We will enjoy an authentic
dim sum lunch, visit the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen classic Chinese garden
for a stroll, and browse through the many shops and markets.
Class departs from the WCC campus promptly at 9:00 AM and
travels by relaxing coach furnished by our day trip partners,
Bellair Charters. Entrance fee to garden is included in course
fee; cost of lunch is not included. Proper border identification
papers must be shown before boarding bus. |

Culinary Road Trip: Taste of India Guided Tour--Surrey, B.C. |
| Spend a day
exploring the Indian side of Surrey, B. C. with our popular
cooking instructor Valerie Viegas. Enjoy a guided tour of the
area, rich in both culture and the flavors of India. We will
first visit a clothing store to experience the stunning fabrics
and styles of Indian dress, then head to the mall area to visit
stores featuring beautiful 24K gold jewelry, shawls, apparel,
and more. From there we will move on to a guided lunch
experience at one of Valerie's favorite haunts--Mehfil, an
authentic Indian buffet-style restaurant. Our last stop will be
an Indian grocery store, where we will immerse ourselves in the
world of exotic spices and ingredients central to Indian
cooking. We will leave from our rendezvous point at the WCC
campus promptly at 9:00 AM and travel by relaxing coach
furnished by our day trip partners, Bellair Charters. Lunch cost
is not included in class fee. Proper border identification

Culinary Road Trip: The Bay Cafe on Lopez Island |
| If you enjoy
exquisite cuisine served in a picturesque setting, this day has
been designed for you! The Bay Cafe--featured in Northwest Best
Places, Bon Appétit, Gourmet, Food & Wine, Travel & Leisure,
Coastal Living, and The New York Times--is our road trip
destination with fun stops along the way. Award-winning
chef/owner Daren Holscher will present a memorable lunch
showcasing fresh, local ingredients and signature dishes of the
spring season. We will also wander the quaint streets of Lopez
Village with its art galleries, bookstore, gift shops and the
famous Holly B's Bakery. Our last stop, before the return trip
home--Lopez Island Vineyards for a tour and wine-tasting. Our
guide, Luanne Williams, invites you to join her as we travel by
relaxing coach furnished by our day trip partners, Bellair
Charters. Gourmet lunch and ferry tolls are included in class
fee. Wine will be available for purchase during lunch and at the
winery. Our rendezvous point will be the WCC campus--Laidlaw

Gardeners' Road Trip: Bellevue Botanical Garden

| Don't miss our
inaugural Gardeners' Road Trip as we head south to the renowned
Bellevue Botanical Garden— comprised of 53 acres of display
gardens, woodlands, meadows and wetlands. We'll stroll through
the dramatic display with our gardening expert, Debra Olberg and
garden docents, enjoying the premiere Northwest Perennial Border
Garden, Waterwise Garden, Yao Garden, and Alpine Rock Garden.
You will be inspired as spring unveils her "stars" -- camellias,
azaleas, rhododendrons, and primulas, just to name a few. After
enjoying a box lunch in the gardens, we will make our last stop
at Flower World--an amazing retail nursery in Maltby with 15
acres of display areas! You'll have time to relax, wander, and
maybe make a purchase or two. Class departs from the WCC campus
promptly at 8:00 AM and travels by relaxing coach furnished by
our day trip partners, Bellair Charters. Dress for the weather
and wear comfortable shoes. A delicious box lunch is provided;

Skagit River Float & Tulip Festival Tour |
Celebrate spring
and join us for a fun day of sightseeing in the beautiful Skagit
Valley! The day will begin with a two-hour raft trip down the
Lower Skagit River into the Swinomish Channel at La Conner with
experienced guides, led by David Button of Pacific Northwest
Float Trips. They will take you up close to nature in a safe
setting as you watch for wildlife such as Bald Eagles,
Red-tailed Hawks, Snow Geese, a variety of ducks and sea birds,
sea otters, seals, and more. After disembarking from your raft,
you will be guided by bus through the spectacular display of
tulip fields in Mount Vernon, with time to stop at two farms to
explore the gardens, take pictures, and browse the gift shops.
Students are responsible for entrance fees to tulip farms. Bring
your camera and a sack lunch, and dress in layers; all rafting
safety gear will be provided. Class will meet at Pioneer Park in
La Conner; driving instructions will be sent with class receipt.

Wine Tasting on the Skagit |
| What a perfect
way to spend a spring day--a scenic float down the beautiful
Skagit River combined with lunch and wine tasting! The day
begins with a peaceful three-hour float trip on the Skagit,
taking in the scenery and wildlife along the way, and ends with
a stop at the Glacier Peak Winery where you'll taste handcrafted
wines and stroll in the vineyards surrounded by rugged mountain
peaks. Rafting safety gear and a box lunch will be provided.
Students are responsible for $5 tasting fee payable to the
winery; must be 21 and show valid ID to wine taste. Class will
meet at Howard Miller Steelhead Park at Rockport off Highway 20;
driving instructions will be sent with class receipt. Session
is closed. |
