night this will be as our artisan cheese expert Amy Pelham and
wine specialist Laurent Martel rendezvous at The Temple Bar in
downtown Bellingham. They will dedicate the evening to the world
of French fromage matched with fine French wine. In France,
April and May are the months when the youngest goat cheeses of
the year are just becoming available--and they are scrumptious!
Amy will showcase these seasonal delicacies to make your cheese
course the talk of your spring and summer gatherings. Laurent
will complement the cheeses with a perfect wine pairing. The
samplings of cheese and wine will be exquisite, so don't miss
this evening! Tasting fee of $10 is included in class fee. Must

Wine Appreciation with Hans Wressnigg

Expand your
knowledge of wines in this exciting course designed for the
serious wine connoisseur. Instructor Hans Wressnigg, Haggen's
Wine Field Marketing Specialist, will offer guided instruction
and tasting exercises to fine-tune your palate. You will
discover common pitfalls in wine tasting and learn how to
systematically evaluate the quality of any sample. This is a
hands-on course designed to foster confidence as you learn to
develop your senses. Hans Wressnigg is a 25 year veteran in the
wine industry and received his Sommelier and Chef de Cuisine
Certificate from the Culinary Institute of Bad Gleichenberg in
Austria. He is a 15-time recipient of the prestigious Wine
Spectator's Best Award of Excellence for creating outstanding
wine cellars in the United States. Tasting fee of $30 payable at
first class, cash or check only. Must be 21 to register. Picture

Que Syrah Shiraz!

You say Syrah, I
say Shiraz. With two names, this grape was thought to have
originally come from the town of Shiraz in Iran (birthplace of
all vinifera grape varieties), but is now known to have
originated in France. From the Rhone Valley to Washington to
California to Australia and South Africa, we will do a global
tasting that will knock your socks off! At evening's end, you
will understand why this grape variety's popularity is soaring.
$12 tasting fee included in course fee. Must be 21 to register.

Wine Tasting on the Skagit |
| What a perfect
way to spend a spring day--a scenic float down the beautiful
Skagit River combined with lunch and wine tasting! The day
begins with a peaceful three-hour float trip on the Skagit,
taking in the scenery and wildlife along the way, and ends with
a stop at the Glacier Peak Winery where you'll taste handcrafted
wines and stroll in the vineyards surrounded by rugged mountain
peaks. Rafting safety gear and a box lunch will be provided.
Students are responsible for $5 tasting fee payable to the
winery; must be 21 and show valid ID to wine taste. Class will
meet at Howard Miller Steelhead Park at Rockport off Highway 20;
driving instructions will be sent with class receipt. |
