If you are wondering where to begin your computer training, come to this FREE orientation for an overview of our courses. We will help you determine which workshops best meet your needs. Computer class instructor Dan Marshall-Campbell will offer one-on-one advising. Registration is not required.

Computer Essentials

If you have never worked with computers or are new to using Microsoft Windows, join us for this easy-paced introductory class! Course covers the basics of using the mouse, opening and using programs, saving and printing your documents, and survival skills for the new computer user. Class is applicable to Windows XP/Vista/7.Section B has been cancelled.

Windows Essentials

Did you know that Microsoft Windows affects how all the other programs on your computer work? This class will teach you essential skills for getting the most from your operating system, including program controls, multi-tasking, using the right mouse button, and copying text and graphics between programs. Class is applicable to Windows XP/Vista/7. Basic computer skills or the class Computer Essentials is strongly recommended.

Keyboard Essentials

Learn to use the special keys on your computer keyboard, including Tab, Ctrl, Alt, Home, End, F1, the arrow keys, and more. You will also review simple procedures for creating and editing text, adding bullet and number lists, moving and copying text, and adding pictures into your text. Please note: this is not a class for learning how to type. Familiarity with Windows recommended.

Customizing Windows Vista

Windows Vista comes with many settings and features that can customize the look and feel of your computer, make it run more efficiently, and keep your hard drive healthy. This class will show you how to configure your computer using the Windows control panel. You will also learn to use built-in tools to maintain your hard drive and receive tips for upgrading your Windows-based software. Familiarity with Windows strongly recommended.

Effective File Management

Having trouble finding your documents? This class will teach you vital Windows file management skills, including creating folders and shortcuts, organizing documents such as letters and spreadsheets, finding lost files, and copying files from your computer to CDs and USB drives. Familiarity with Windows is strongly recommended. Course is applicable to Windows XP/Vista/7.
