Introduction to Northwest Fishing

Get the inside scoop on fishing local lakes, rivers, and saltwater! Through discussion, demonstration, and hands-on experience, learn essential techniques and best times of the year to catch a variety of local species. Each quarter, class will focus on species currently in season. Instructor Eli Michael is an avid fisherman with 23 years of experience fishing Northwest waters. Class includes two classroom sessions and a field trip on Saturday, May 15, 8 AM - 2 PM--location to be announced in class.

Fly-fishing: An Introduction

Have you ever wanted to learn to fly-fish? This class will have you casting on your favorite stream in no time! Join Scott Christensen, Federation of Flyfishers Certified Casting Instructor, to learn the basics of casting, tackle selection, rigging, and knot tying. Please bring a rod and reel to class. Section A is held at WCC; Section B meets session meets at a local trout pond--directions will be mailed with receipt. Space is limited so register early!

Fly-fishing: Beginning Casting

Learn to cast like a pro! Join Scott Christensen, Federation of Flyfishers Certified Casting Instructor, as he covers basic casting techniques for the beginner or novice. This class is taught at a local pond stocked with 12" to 20" trout for a hands-on experience; driving instructions will be sent will class receipt. Bring a fly rod and reel with floating fly line. A $5 fee is payable at class for use of pond.

Fly-Tying: Beginning

Learn to create fish-catching and eye-pleasing fly patterns from a pro! Fly-tying techniques and material selection will be covered in this introductory class. Fresh and saltwater patterns will be covered. Instructor Scott Christensen has been tying for over 30 years and displays his work throughout the Northwest. $5 material fee payable to instructor at first class.

Saltwater Fly-Tying

If you are fishing the beaches (or would like to), this new class is for you! Instructor Scott Christensen will teach you patterns for salmon and cutthroat fishing in saltwater, as well as fishing methods and locations. Previous tying experience is required. $5 material fee payable to instructor at first class. Bring your own vise and tools.
