These practices harmonize body, breath, and mind as you learn stillness within movement and movement in stillness. Reduce stress, get a physical workout, build energy, and develop self-awareness. This course is suitable for people of all ages and levels of physical conditioning. Section A is held at Whatcom Hills Waldorf School; Section B is held at WCC.

Tai Chi

Join in learning this gentle yet powerful form of exercise that can be practiced for the rest of your life. Tai Chi is a movement and exercise discipline that develops balance, centeredness, and peace of mind. Yang-style Tai Chi is an integral part of traditional Chinese medicine and is used to increase energy and reduce stress. Instructor Dani Riggs is a local psychotherapist who has taught Tai Chi since 1984. Students are strongly encouraged to also enroll in Dani's QiGong class (earlier the same evening) for an enhanced Tai Chi experience. Section A is held at Whatcom Hills Waldorf School; Section B is held at WCC.

Simply Yoga

This class will awaken your body, mind and heart as you discover a safe and practical approach for self-care. As a new or continuing student, you will practice breathing techniques, postures and deep relaxation to strengthen, open and refresh you on many levels. Maureen Braun, RN and certified Integrative Yoga teacher, is known for her accessible, clear, and creative style. She offers a variety of techniques for both beginning and returning students. Bring one or two blankets. Yoga mats will be provided. Class is held at the YWCA on the corner of N. Forest and Maple.

Simply Yoga: Restorative Poses

Expand your exploration of yoga through restorative postures that are passive, deeply nourishing, and restful--a wonderful addition to every student's personal practice. Emphasizing being rather than doing, we will use a variety of props to create full body support as we sustain poses that open the body and lead to an exquisitely deep relaxation experience. Students will learn how to sequence the poses for optimum benefits. Please bring 2-3 blankets to class; mats and other props will be provided. This class is for students who have taken beginning level yoga classes or have taken at least one 8-week session of Simply Yoga. Class is held at the YWCA on the corner of N. Forest and Maple.

Pilates Flow

Join instructor Ella Eastham and take your practice to a new level, integrating a flowing yoga sequence into a rigorous Pilates-based routine. Each class will focus on improving your core strength, flexibility, and balance, and will end with relaxation exercises. Class is for students who have taken at least one intermediate level Pilates class. Please bring a thick Pilates mat. Class is held at the YWCA on the corner of N. Forest and Maple.

Pilates: Beginning

Experience the incredible benefits of Pilates in a lighthearted, pressure-free atmosphere! You'll improve core strength, posture, and flexibility with attention to form and proper body alignment. Instructor Robin de Leuw offers a variety of exercises and modifications for both new and returning students. Bring a thick Pilates mat, pillow, and water bottle. Class is held at YWCA on the corner of N. Forest and Maple.

Continue to experience the benefits of Pilates! Class will include more challenging exercises with focus on form, breath, heightened mind-body awareness, and--above all--FUN!
