How to Improve Your Website
Your website can be one of your most effective marketing tools, as long as your clients--and potential clients--can find it! In this class, we will cover the basics of an effective website, including design, layout, photography, navigation, usability, search engine preparedness, and content. Instructors will show examples of do's and don'ts in website layout, as well as offer a constructive critique for each student's website. You will leave with simple methods to improve your website and attract more visitors. Feel free to bring your laptop to our wireless classroom for a hands-on experience! Recruiting on a Budget

Increasingly, recruiting is an expensive proposition--especially for small businesses. Traditional venues for delivering your recruiting message are becoming less effective, and to top it off, Whatcom County's unemployment is at an all-time low, making it difficult to find qualified employees. In this seminar, you will not only learn about inexpensive ways to get your recruiting message out there, but you will also begin the process of developing a toolkit for effective hiring. You will discover productive avenues to post your job opening, explore effective ways to phrase your message, and identify target-specific venues for your recruiting message. Instructor Jack McCallum is the President/Principal Consultant of HR Balance.  Session is closed.

Increase Your Cash with Profit Focused Management

Using two sets of books may seem suspect, but interpreting your numbers two different ways is both legal and can increase your profits as a small business owner. By using the principles of profit-focused management, you will learn how to increase cash profits vital to your business survival, profitability, and growth. You will learn to master your Value Stream (everything you do to make your product), develop your unique Core Competencies (things you do particularly well), and establish a Sustainable Competitive Advantage. Taking lessons from Disneyland and Toyota, instructor Mike Greene will help you avoid running out of cash and show how you some simple shifts in thinking can make your business more profitable. Mike Greene has owned and operated five small businesses and is an expert in Lean Management. Session is closed.
