Mosaic Stepping Stones
Adorn your yard and pathways with unique and beautiful stones designed by you! In this hands-on workshop, discover how simple and fun decorating your own pre-cast stepping stones can be. Using an easy and fast method, you will design your own pattern using a wide variety of colorful ceramic pieces and interesting found objects. You may choose to bring optional items from home to incorporate into your design (marbles, hardware, beads, beach glass, etc.). Instructor Jean Kroll is a mosaic artist who has exhibited her work in the Whatcom/Skagit County area. Bring one 12-inch diameter pre-cast cement stepping stone with smooth surface--available at local home improvement stores; instructor will supply all other materials to transform your stepping stone into a one-of-a-kind work of art. $10 materials fee payable to instructor at class.

Learn the basics of mosaic art as you create a colorful wall-hanging in this introductory class. Jean will provide all materials needed for your project, including a vast selection of colorful shards. The Joy of Birding
Are you fascinated by the birds you see in your garden, at the shoreline or anywhere else you come upon these wonders of the air? Spend a Saturday morning with instructor Gwin Cooper, exploring the bird life of Washington with an emphasis on species you are likely to see in Whatcom County. Learn about the habits and migration patterns of our local avian friends and the best places to view them. You will leave class with a wealth of resources and inspired to continue your new hobby year-round! Gwin Cooper is an avid birdwatcher who has a passion for birds of every feather.

Crochet Workshop for Beginners
Discover the art of crochet in this introductory workshop! You will practice several different stitches such as chain, single crochet and double crochet, plus create your own potholder by the end of the class. Please bring at least one crochet hook (size G or H) and two different colors of worsted weight yarn, or purchase them from the instructor at the beginning of class. Instructor Stephanie Meester has been crocheting for 20 years and enjoys sharing her craft with others.

Knit Your Socks Off!
Sock knitting is addictive! Perfect for summer knitting, socks are extremely portable and can go anywhere with you. They provide a small-scale framework for experimenting with new stitches and can be completed within a relatively short period of time. Best of all, once you start wearing custom knit socks, you won't want to wear anything else on your feet! Supply list will be sent with class receipt. Prerequisite: Knitting for Beginners or instructor permission.

Family Knitting Circle
 
Join instructor Lisa Holt for this fun summer class for parents and children, designed for beginning and intermediate knitters alike! Working with instructor Lisa Holt and your partner, you will learn to knit a hat using circular and double-pointed needles. Grandparents are also encouraged to enroll with a grandchild. Class is for children age 10 years and older; class fee covers adult and one child. Materials list will be sent with class receipt.

Say it with Jewelry!
Explore the craft of jewelry-making in this creative introductory workshop! Using hand tools and letter stamps to emboss words and short phrases, you will create your very own sterling silver bracelet to keep or give as a gift. Names, positive affirmations, and light humor are among decorative themes to explore as you learn the basics of working with silver. Each participant will come away with one bracelet. Instructor Jamie Bichler is a local artist who has been designing unique jewelry for the past 15 years. $20 materials fee payable to instructor at class.
