Summertime in
the Northwest is the "grand finale" for both avid and novice
gardeners! Whether you have an acre of gardens or a few planter
boxes on your deck, enjoy this special time to its fullest by
learning expert tips and techniques essential to summer
gardening. Our gardening pro, Debra Olberg, will cover watering,
grooming, summer pruning, fertilizing programs, pest control,
adding color throughout the summer season and much more. Bring
your questions and learn how to keep your garden looking
beautiful and happy all summer long!

Bright Ideas for Shade Gardens |
Are you "in the
dark" when it comes to choosing plants for your garden's shady
spots? Instructor Debra Olberg will come to the rescue with
inspiring ideas that will transform your yard’s dim spots with
an enticing mix of bright blooms and lush foliage. Course focus
will be on trees, shrubs, perennials, ground covers and annuals
that are made for the shade. Bring your questions and discover
new plant friends to adorn your shady places, bringing color and
interest for year-round enjoyment.

Organic Home Gardening
 |
Learn to work
with nature to create and grow your very own "green"
(sustainable) and nutritious organic garden. This timely course
covers the how-tos of growing delicious organic vegetables,
flavorful herbs, and fragrant flowers. Instructor and organic
gardener Gretchen Hoyt will discuss soil health, how to conserve
water through mulching and composting methods, starting seed and
transplanting, fertilizing, basic pest control, and harvesting.
Three classroom sessions will prepare you for the last class--a
fascinating field trip to a local organic farm on Saturday, May
31 (time to be arranged in class). Instructor Gretchen Hoyt of
Alm Hill Gardens in Everson has owned and managed a successful
organic garden for 35 years. She welcomes all levels of
gardening experience.

Contemporary Floral Design |
Contemporary
floral design is high on style and low in the amount of
materials used to create an eye-catching piece. This type of
floral design is so versatile--ideal for the home or office.
Learning basic design techniques, you will create stunning
arrangements for years to come. Join Cheryl Jackson in this fun
two-evening workshop as you expand your floral design skills!
$10 material fee is included in course fee.

From Garden to Vase |
If you love to
surround yourself with fragrant, beautiful flowers--both indoors
and in your garden--then this workshop is for you! Our popular
landscape design instructor, Debra Olberg, and talented floral
design instructor, Cheryl Jackson, have teamed up to take you
through the full transformation from growing seedlings to
putting the final touches on your home-grown summer bouquets.
Debra will spend the first half of the workshop discussing how
to create a cutting garden including plant selection, garden
design, watering and fertilizing. Cheryl will then share tips
and techniques for creating stunning, fresh-cut flower bouquets
to decorate your home, patio, office, or anywhere! Bring some
flowers and/or foliage from your garden for sharing and
swapping, pruning clippers, and a sharp knife. Containers and
supplemental flowers will be provided. You will go home with a
beautiful bouquet designed by you! $7 materials fee is included
in course fee. Bring a snack or sack lunch to enjoy while you
work!
