Video Editing Camp
Have you ever wanted to make a movie or music video? This camp will be a fun introduction to editing digital footage on your computer. On the first day you'll learn editing basics, including capturing footage; adding media such as photos, sound effects, and animations; and trimming clips. The second day will be spent "time stretching" clips, adding titles, improving audio, and adding cool special effects. The final day will be dedicated to editing your very own music video using skills learned in the previous sessions. Instructor Dal Neitzel is an award-winning documentary producer whose footage has appeared on MTV, The Discovery Channel, PBS, National Geographic Television, CNN, and others. This camp is designed for ages 11 and up.

Family Knitting Circle
 
Join instructor Lisa Holt for this fun summer class for parents and children, designed for beginning and intermediate knitters alike! Working with instructor Lisa Holt and your partner, you will learn to knit a hat using circular and double-pointed needles. Grandparents are also encouraged to enroll with a grandchild. A Pirate's Life for Me!
 
Come sail the seven seas with Captain Jennie! She will teach ye all sorts of pirate skills like map readin' and knot tyin' and will put ye to work makin' doubloons, pirate flags, treasure chests, and more! Don't forget to wear yer best pirate gear and bring a sack lunch. The Captain will also be servin' some tasty grub like hardtack and lemonade to prevent the dreaded scurvy. A grand pirate feast will take place from 3-4 p.m. on the second day for skallywags and landlubbers alike--parents can join in the feast, and even little brothers an' sisters, if they be brave enough. $28 material fee payable to instructor at class. Designed for ages 7-11. Arrr!

Introduction to Digital Manga
Manga is the Japanese word for "comic," and the popularity of this distinctive style of art is at an all-time high around the world! Join us for this fun summer crash-course in digital manga and learn to create your very own personalized manga artwork! Using templates from the provided textbook and CD, you will build your own character and scene, while learning to use the editing tools in Photoshop Elements including cutting; pasting; and using layers, composition, and color to enhance your artwork. Class will also discuss various techniques for applying color digitally. This class is designed for ages 12 and up. Hogwarts Satellite School
Have you dreamed of attending Hogwarts, but England is just too far away? This weekend course is your opportunity to get a jumpstart on many of the subjects taught at Hogwarts! Our Satellite School's headmistress, Professor Goforth, will provide an introduction to First Year subjects including Herbology, History of Magic, Potions, Arithmancy, Divination, and Ancient Runes. Class projects will yield a variety of take-home results including a magic journal, herbology charts, and much more. Materials fee of $45 is payable to instructor at class. Guitar Camp: Zero to Hero!
 
Do you want to be a real GUITAR HERO (italics)? Then leave your Xbox behind, pick up a guitar, and head to our summer camp for an experience that will have you strumming, composing, and singing before you know it! In this innovative course, you will learn how to play simple chords, compose a melody, and write lyrics that will become your original song. Instructor Tom Hodge has taught guitar and ukulele at WCC for over five years. His CD of original songs, "Shadows and Light," is highly acclaimed, and his well-crafted tunes have been recorded and performed by many West Coast artists. Bring your own acoustic guitar. Camp is geared for ages 12-16.

Are you concerned about the environment? Are you interested in learning what you can do to keep our planet healthy? This class is about more than just recycling! We'll be taking a close look at environmental issues we're currently facing and possible strategies for the future. From bioregions and conservation to ethnobotany and permaculture, instructor Jennie Goforth will explore topics that will help you start making a difference now! Young Rembrandts Drawing Camp
Treat your budding artist to fun and interesting drawing projects with this innovative art camp! Students will explore a variety of techniques emphasizing line, shape, value, color, and balance illustrated by great artists such as Matisse, Van Gogh, Rembrandt, and more. Your child's talents will be enhanced through carefully guided instruction in a supportive environment. Instructor Katherine Morgan has years of experience teaching drawing to kids of all ages. Bring white paper and a pencil to the first class; optional materials will be discussed during the first class. Please bring a snack each day. Designed for ages 6-9.

Espanol Para Los Ninos (Spanish for Kids)
 
Enrich your child's summer learning in this fun and dynamic beginning Spanish course. Using games, songs, and hands-on lessons, students will explore the cultures of Spanish-speaking countries and learn greetings, the alphabet, numbers, classroom objects, telling time, colors, clothing and more. The goal of this language camp is to make your child's exposure to a foreign language and culture a positive and fun-filled experience. The grand finale is a pinata party--everyone's favorite, no matter what age! Ancient Civilizations: The Maya and Egyptians
 
Spend a week exploring the lives of the Ancient Maya and Ancient Egyptians! Learn to read and write the hieroglyphs of each culture, construct and compare Mayan and Egyptian-style pyramids, try the foods of the cultures, and explore Egyptian and Mayan math. You will compare and contrast the geography, timelines, daily lives, and accomplishments of these two important civilizations, plus look at how they have impacted our lives today. For grades 4-6.
