Spanish I: Beginning
Learn basic conversational skills to communicate with Spanish-speaking people in a playful, relaxed, and informal atmosphere. You will begin to acquire listening and speaking skills as you practice greetings, introductions, numbers, telling time, shopping transactions, and other everyday words and phrases. All course materials are included in course fee; no textbook required. You will also be introduced to the use of verbs and adjectives in this first step toward mastering the language. Instructor Elizabeth Stuart has been teaching Spanish to children and adults of all ages for the past three years. Her passion for Spanish and learning about Spanish-speaking cultures has carried her to Honduras, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Mexico, and Spain.

Espanol Para Los Ninos (Spanish for Kids)
 
Enrich your child's summer learning in this fun and dynamic beginning Spanish course. Using games, songs, and hands-on lessons, students will explore the cultures of Spanish-speaking countries and learn greetings, the alphabet, numbers, classroom objects, telling time, colors, clothing and more. The goal of this language camp is to make your child's exposure to a foreign language and culture a positive and fun-filled experience. The grand finale is a pinata party--everyone's favorite, no matter what age! Instructor Elizabeth Stuart loves teaching children and is known for her interactive, energetic, and patient teaching style. All materials included in course fee. Class is designed for grades 4-6.

Spanish for Teachers and School Personnel
This course is designed to provide functional Spanish language skills for teachers who have Spanish-speaking children in their classrooms and for teachers who would like to incorporate some Spanish language learning in their classroom. Learn vocabulary, fun songs, Spanish expressions for classroom management and communicating with parents, and gain cross-cultural sensitivity regarding family life, social customs and cultural expectations. Instructor Elizabeth Stuart has been teaching Spanish to children and adults of all ages for the past three years. No prior knowledge of Spanish is necessary. All materials are included in course fee.

Italian I
Would you like to learn the Italian language? Are you planning to travel to Italy? Or do you simply love all things Italian? Then this is the perfect class for you! Instructor Katia Mahan will introduce you to the language and culture of contemporary Italy. Required textbook can be purchased at Whatcom's bookstore before the first class session. Ciao!
